We're starting the process of potty training Henry. To that end, I purchased a DVD called "Potty Power" from Amazon. It features an impossibly cute and perky young woman named Jessica, who makes the whole process of voiding one's bowels seem so marvelously upbeat and fun-filled. Her co-star in this touching melodrama is T.P., an animated -- you guessed it -- role of toilet paper, whose rather hang-dog expression reminds me of Paul Giamatti. (Sorry, Paul.)
Henry loves this film. "Potty show! Potty show!" he calls in his plaintive voice at least twice a day. Unfortunately, he hasn't made the connection between what they're talking about in the film and what he should be doing once he's assumed the position on top of his plastic potty chair. As far as he's concerned, there IS no connection.
Thus am I tortured with catchy tunes such as "No More Diapers" and "Wipe Your Bottom" for no cause, alas! no cause at all.
Yes, we dragged out the potty video for Nick last week too. Not that he's ready, but he likes to watch it. Besides, it worked well with Ryan, so I figured i might as well. I was reminded of the reason I was glad to be done with it the first time. Songs about "poo poo" and "wee wee". He's wild about it. "Love" is not a strong enough word. Anyway, it keeps his mind off his final molars from coming in and the pain associated. Poor guy. Can you imagine how life would feel, with all the experience of an adult, if that was all we had to worry about. Wow.
Glad to hear Henry is happy with his video. I would make you a copy of my lovely potty video, but ours is from the "old days" of 5 years ago (VHS) and i don't have means to copy it.
Matt.

Good luck. I know people say to "savor every moment" but potty training a child is something I could do without.
